Any of these paths can end in pop success, but the most plainly relevant contestant this season is Andrew Garcia, a YouTube-era star in the making, one of thousands of people who for the last few years have in essence been playing “American Idol: The Home Game,” posting clips of their cover-song performances to the Internet in hopes they’d get noticed. In those clips, which still pepper YouTube, he’s a clear adept, able to breezily disassemble and reformat popular songs for his limited vocal range — a recipe for modern “Idol” success. His version of Paula Abdul’s hit “Straight Up” during Hollywood week has been this season’s most memorable and thoughtful performance by far.
“Idol” might make Mr. Garcia a star, but he’s done most of the heavy lifting already, a seasoned competitor on a show that prizes inventive revisions of pop standards. Mr. Garcia may not have a record deal, but in this regard, he’s no amateur.

Based in Southern California, Tranley started writing and playing music around the same time he posted his first video on Youtube, which was around Christmas of 2008. He grew up musically listening to styles like the mellow Jack Johnson, to folk-indie Damien Rice, to bluesy John Mayer; mix in a little jazz and those types of artists and sounds influences a lot of what he creates. Though fairly fresh to the scene, his goal is to inspire and share, and have listeners/fans/friends grow with him as a musician and relate.

Open Auditions for The Featured Acoustic Playlist 2.0
A) DESCRIPTION:
Enter for a chance to perform at the Featured Acoustic Playlist on August 2010 in Southern California. Three (3) lucky artists will get a chance to showcase their musical talents live, alongside headlining acts, and featured on the live internet broadcast of the show.
B) ELIGIBILITY:
Entrants must be 16 years old or older and currently residing in the Continental United States or Canada.
Finalists under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied to the show by a parent or legal guardian.
C) HOW TO ENTER:
Post a video response to this video to guarantee your entry in this audition process.
Please provide a quick introduction about yourself and perform the song of your choice as your entry.
All video responses to this video of SINxJAE are deemed official entries.
D) SELECTION PROCESS:
From the day of this video release to 2/28 (February 28, 2010), entrants will have a chance to submit their entry as a video response.
- March 2-9th — Top 25 entries will be filtered and proceed to an online voting process.
- TBA — Top 5 Semi-finalists will be selected from the result of online voting poll.
- TBA — The Top 5 winners will have to submit a second video to see the versatility of the artists. Official details of the second video will be later announced.
- TBA — Top 3 Finalists will be chosen from another online voting poll.
E) WINNERS:
First Place: Finalist will get a chance to perform under the Playlist section and open up the Second Act of the show. You will also get travel and hotel accommodations for the show.
Second and Third Place: Finalists will get a chance to perform under the Prelist section of the show. You will however be responsible for providing your own hotel and travel accommodations.
Fourth and Fifth Place: Finalists will serve as the back up performers for the top 3 finalists should they experience any difficulties, which will inhibit their ability to perform at the show. You will receive Special Guest passes to the show.
FEATURED ACOUSTIC PLAYLIST is an event organized by Jason Toledo (SINxJAE), Mel T. (melmyfinger) and members of BTVFAM. Varieties of musical personalities are gathered from across the country to showcase their talents. The goal of this event is to showcase the musical talents of today’s youth, while sparking interest in art and music; thus bringing people together in a common interest to raise money for a good cause. The event will open up opportunities for people to meet their role models and possibly give them the inspiration to emulate or follow in the artist’s footsteps.
